KATHAK DANCE


This is a North Indian dance tradition. This has been broadcast through the four gharanas of Lucknow, Raigar, Benaris and Jaipur. Kathak dance has a lasya quality. This dance is beautiful and attractive. Students of Kathak do not dance without worshiping the teacher. It is a traditional practice. There are many dance parts here. If they are, 

          🔳 PARAN 

                     > Sadha paran

                     > Chakradhar paran 

                     > Vijili paran 

                     > Gaj paran 

          🔳 TUMRI

          🔳THARANA 

Kathak dance also has several theatrical Costumes. If there are, Lehenga, Chudidhar Pijama. These are derived form Muslim inspiration. The musical traditional of Kathak dance is Uttara Indian Hindustani music. Several musical instruments are also used here. Pakwaj, Tabla, Sarangi are among them. Today, this Kathak dance is widespread in Sri Lanka.
